Modern mobility infrastructure for Poland: STRABAG secures major contracts worth around 150 million euros

  • Design-and-build contract to modernise and extend national road DK25
  • EU co-financed urban development project in Łódź to improve public transport and reduce emissions
  • Every fourth kilometre of motorway in Poland built by STRABAG
At the beginning of this year, STRABAG Sp. z o.o., the Polish subsidiary of STRABAG, secured two major road modernisation contracts worth approximately 147 million euros (~PLN 621 million), further strengthening its leading role in the field of mobility infrastructure.

Planning, modernisation and dual-carriageway upgrade of national road DK25 road

The DK25, a key north-south route connecting the A2 motorway and S11 expressway in Poland, is undergoing an extensive renovation between Konin and Kokanin. As part of this project, the road will be expanded to two lanes in each direction. STRABAG has been awarded the longest section – an 18-kilometre stretch from Zbiersk to Kokanin – by the Polish motorway authority, GDDKiA. This section will feature the construction of eleven engineering structures, including six road viaducts, four service viaducts, and one service bridge.

Executed under a design-and-build contract, the project aims to enhance road safety and significantly reduce travel times for local communities. The upgrade will also incorporate wildlife crossings and noise barriers, reflecting a strong commitment to protecting local fauna and minimising environmental impact. The project is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2029.

Road infrastructure upgrade under the EU co-funded project “Tram for Łódź”

As part of the EU-funded urban development initiative “Tram for Łódź”, approximately 130 roads across the city are being reconstructed or modernised. STRABAG has been awarded the contract to upgrade and modernise Broniewskiego Street between the intersections with Śmigłego-Rydza Avenue and Rzgowska Street. The scope of works includes widening Broniewskiego Street to accommodate tram tracks, modernising tram junctions, and creating dedicated space for cycling infrastructure.

The project will enhance connectivity between residential areas and the city centre, shorten travel and transfer times, and optimise overall traffic flow. By improving mobility while reducing emissions, it will also contribute to a better urban microclimate. Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027.

STRABAGs strong presence in Polish mobility infrastructure

  • These projects further demonstrate STRABAG’s expertise in modern mobility infrastructure. One in every four kilometres of motorway and expressway in Poland has been built by STRABAG, highlighting our significant contribution to the country’s infrastructure development while reinforcing our presence in a dynamic market with excellent long-term growth prospects.

In 2025, STRABAG completed 137 kilometres of roads in Poland, serving as a reliable partner for the country’s national road network. With 38 years of activity in Poland, the company has built a total of 1,218 kilometres of motorways and expressways, around a quarter of the national network. Beyond road construction, STRABAG’s approximately 7,400 employees in Poland are currently engaged in major projects including the modernisation of Maksymilianowo railway station, the transformation of a former coal mine in Katowice into a modern technology hub, the expansion and modernisation of Wrocław Airport, and the construction of the Upper One in Warsaw, one of the city's most significant high-rise projects at present, with a 34-storey, 131-metre-high office tower.
