What powers us?
Construction machines produce a large amount of CO2. Hydrogen, HVO and electric drives have the potential to power our excavators, wheel loaders and more in the future. And we are already testing these alternative drive technologies today.

The expansion of the A8 motorway near Pforzheim is setting an example: an innovative earthworks concept is saving millions, conserving resources and has received an award for it. Sustainability across the board!
Rolling stones that generate electricity.
In our quarry near Saalfelden, we utilise this raw material’s natural gravity on the conveyor belts to generate electrical energy. In this way, we cover around 20 % of our own electricity requirements directly on site.
We build the cities of tomorrow.
With Behrens-Ufer, a former industrial site in Berlin is being transformed into a forward-looking, energetically self-sufficient commercial location. Modernisation doesn’t exclude climate and monument protection in urban areas! Quite the contrary: we recognise the potential of modern development that this entails.
Sustainable alternative: timber.
Timber is a versatile, natural construction material with numerous advantages and helps reduce CO2 emissions. The STRABAG subsidiary ZÜBLIN Timber has set new standards for modern, environmentally aware construction in the new Witten/Herdecke University building.
Pioneering feat: Austria’s first 3D-printed building.
Printing a building – sound impossible? Not to us it doesn’t! Together with 3D concrete printing pioneer PERI and the world’s largest 3D printer, we have built an impressive 125 m² office extension. And with 3DLight_OnSite, our focus is on mobile printing robots and bionic lightweight construction.

With our “adASTRA” intrapreneurship programme, we promote the entrepreneurial potential of our employees and develop creative solutions for the challenges of the construction industry.
BIM2fields: augmented reality on the construction site.
At Brandýs in the Czech Republic, mobile devices are used to optimise on-site processes. For example, using a smartphone, digital BIM models with augmented reality can be overlaid directly onto the natural landscape, or precise location data can be collected.
