Hilgefort under the ZÜBLIN roof in future

  • Acquisition as part of an asset deal
  • All employees are taken on
  • Expansion of capacities and expertise in bridge construction
Züblin Stahlbau GmbH is taking over significant assets of Hilgefort GmbH, based in the district of Vechta in Lower Saxony, as part of an asset deal on August 1, 2025. With the takeover, ZÜBLIN Stahlbau secures the jobs of all 70 employees and will further expand the site in Dinklage within the area of bridge construction in order to position itself even more broadly in this segment with greater vertical integration.

Hilgefort specializes in plant component and apparatus construction and will be continued as a product at Züblin Stahlbau GmbH. As part of the asset deal, the company is taking over around 40,000 square meters of land, three large production halls and the movable fixed assets.

"With this acquisition, we are specifically expanding our capacities and expertise in the field of bridge construction - a decisive step in order to meet the urgently needed expansion of infrastructure in Germany," explains Marco Eckert, Technical Managing Director of Züblin Stahlbau GmbH. "At the same time, Hilgefort's specialist expertise in plant component and apparatus construction will be retained and will be further developed under the umbrella of ZÜBLIN Stahlbau."

The extensive know-how of the workforce is also particularly valuable: "I am very pleased that our employees will now be able to use their many years of experience in metalworking and welding technology under the roof of ZÜBLIN Stahlbau, which will also open up new perspectives for the workforce," says Ulrich Hilgefort, current Managing Director of Hilgefort GmbH, who will personally oversee the integration for ZÜBLIN Stahlbau.

The integration of the Dinklage site supports the growth strategy and strengthens the position of Züblin Stahlbau GmbH as a leading provider of steel building, steel plant and steel bridge construction.

More renewable energy from hydropower: Refurbishment work at an altitude of 1,700 metres

The energy transition requires high-capacity storage solutions. The Wurtenspeicher is the centrepiece of Kelag’s Fragant power station complex in the Mölltal valley, situated at 1,700 metres above sea level. The dam is being raised by seven metres, thereby almost doubling its storage capacity from 2.7 to 5 million cubic metres of water. Facilities such as the Wurtenspeicher can effectively compensate for grid fluctuations – an important contribution to a sustainable energy supply in Carinthia.
