Vienna, 17 March 2022---Austrian construction group STRABAG has been commissioned by Value One to act as general contractor on the Grünblick residential project in Viertel Zwei in Vienna. The € 110 million contract is scheduled for completion by summer 2025.

The car-free Viertel Zwei urban development project, located directly at Vienna’s Prater public park, involves the construction of 340 premium private flats on 27 floors, ranging in size from just under 44 m2 to 134 m2 with spacious communal areas such as a rooftop wellness area. The contract also includes retail space as well as a children’s nursery on the ground floor and three underground parking levels with around 220 parking spaces. The project is scheduled for turnkey delivery to Value One in summer 2025.

85% zero-emission energy – ÖGNI gold award
Thanks to the sustainable energy mix in Viertel Zwei, 85 % of the heating and cooling requirements can be generated without generating CO2 emissions using existing energy sources on site. “Grünblick im Viertel Zwei will provide climate-sensitive living environments where people can feel at home. The digitalisation of the building supports the end customer in using fewer resources while maintaining a high level of comfort,” says Andreas Köttl, CEO of Value One. Sustainable operation is also ensured through the implementation of thermal building component activation. “As a leading partner for sustainable and urban construction, we are particularly pleased to be realising this energy-efficient building as general contractor. Together with Value One, we want to set a new milestone in sustainable residential construction,” says Thomas Birtel, CEO of STRABAG SE.

Grünblick has already been awarded the gold sustainability certificate by the Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate (ÖGNI).
