STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions: focus on core business after sale of railway communications

  • STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions GmbH (SISS) selling railway communications business to Funkwerk AG Group as part of an asset deal
  • Business field with about 20 employees and annual revenue of around € 3 million
  • SISS to focus on mobile video systems, tunnel equipment and traffic systems, and communication and security systems

Vienna, 27 March 2020---Funkwerk AG Group, a provider of professional communication, information and security systems, is taking over the activities of the railway communications business of STRABAG Infrastructure & Safety Solutions GmbH (SISS), Vienna. SISS, a 100 % subsidiary of STRABAG AG, Vienna, specialises in technical infrastructure solutions as well as security and communication systems and last generated annual revenues of around € 3 million in railway communication systems. The purchase agreement that was signed today comprises the approximately 20 employees working in this business field as well as the total assets assigned to the railway communications business, all products and product rights, and the existing order backlog. The parties to the transaction have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The agreement contains several conditions precedent; the closing is expected to take place in the summer of 2020.

Focus on the core business
SISS is a European market leader for technical infrastructure solutions as well as security and communication systems for emergency service organisations, transport, public security and industry. Following the asset deal, the core business will be based on three pillars:

Mobile video systems: As a competent partner for end-to-end solutions in the field of mobile video recording, SISS offers customised analogue and digital solutions for local, regional and long-distance public transport. With over 20 years of experience and independent, innovative hardware and software product developments, SISS regularly implements numerous projects in the rail and bus sector worldwide.

Tunnel equipment and traffic systems: As a general contractor, SISS offers complete custom solutions in the fields of tunnel equipment, traffic systems and electrical plant engineering. From design to build to maintain, the superb level of project management expertise ensures a high degree of client satisfaction. Top quality, on-time delivery, effectiveness and teamwork – these values have priority for SISS when executing its national and international projects.

Communication and security systems: Here the product range consists of voice and data radio systems for tunnels and buildings; large-area communication systems; fixed, mobile and portable end devices; and high-availability modules and components for analogue, digital, optical and high-frequency systems. End-to-end infrastructure solutions for emergency control centre warning and alarm systems complete the portfolio. Only recently, several SISS systems were expanded to meet the increased case volume in emergency call centres as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
