STRABAG subsidiary Metallica Stahl- und Fassadentechnik GmbH independent from 2020

  • Previous unit of STRABAG AG, Austria, to be managed as an independent subsidiary
  • Metallica has been the Austrian market leader in steel, aluminium and glass façade construction for years
  • Next strategic step: specialisation and internationalisation of the façade construction business

Vienna, 16 January 2020---STRABAG, the European technology group for construction services, is strategically realigning its façade construction business. Starting in 2020, the façade construction entity of STRABAG AG, Austria, will be managed as an independent subsidiary based in Vienna under the name Metallica Stahl- und Fassadentechnik GmbH. STRABAG Metallica has been the Austrian market leader in steel, aluminium and glass façade construction for several years. The entrepreneurial independence is the next step in the further specialisation and internationalisation of the façade construction business.

“Façades are the shaping element of any building and define the skylines of the big cities of the world. Modern architecture relies on a high level of light and openness. At the same time, high energy efficiency in the sense of sustainability is absolutely necessary. A steel or aluminium glass façade fulfils all of these requirements and is therefore much more than just a building envelope,” explains the technical managing director Jürgen Laky.

Although the market in this segment is developing quite rapidly, there are still few companies that plan and implement more complex designs. Metallica Stahl- und Fassadentechnik GmbH realises all types of steel or aluminium glass façades and covers international projects of all sizes. At Metallica everything comes from a single source: from planning and production to the assembly of the façade elements. Inhouse planning and estimation teams, two production sites in Hungary and Austria, and trained assembly teams ensure that Metallica can always implement the façade elements in the best quality.

“Aluminium, steel and glass construction requires a high degree of specialisation, as it is often a matter of realising very complex structures. Nationally and internationally, our high level of specialisation, supported by the comprehensive know-how and support of the STRABAG Group, is a unique selling point. The independence of the new company should also underline the degree of specialisation, allowing us to address specialists even more directly than before,” says Peter Tropper, the company’s commercial managing director.
