STRABAG modernising railway line in the south of the Czech Republic

Vienna, 3 July 2019 STRABAG Rail a.s., a subsidiary of the publicly listed construction group STRABAG SE, has been awarded the contract to modernise the 11.3 km railway section between Soběslav and Doubí on behalf of the Czech national railway infrastructure administration SŽDC. The contract value amounts to CZK 3.86 billion (~ € 150 million). Work will begin in September 2019 and will last 46 months.
The contract was awarded to a consortium consisting of STRABAG Rail a.s., EUROVIA CS a.s. and Metrostav a.s. The share attributable to consortium leader STRABAG Rail a.s. amounts to 53.21 %.

The work on the Soběslav–Doubí section comprises the completion of the 11.3 km long double-track line, the connection of the constructed section to the Soběslav railway station and the erection of seven bridge structures – including two viaducts with a total length of 1,095 m. The Zvěrotický Tunnel with a length of 370 m, a telecommunications system and noise barriers with a total length of 1.6 km will also be completed. The construction of new station platforms and the dismantling of the original single-track line also form part of the contract.
